At our recent Westport and Smith Cove Waterfront Parks community meeting on September 24, 2024, neighbors gathered to hear exciting updates and provide feedback on the evolving park designs. The evening started with a warm welcome from the Westport Academy cheerleaders, and attendees enjoyed dinner provided at the event. Additionally, $25 gift cards were raffled off as door prizes to thank participants for attending.

Westport Academy Principal Melody Locke welcomed everyone to the meeting. Megan Born, from the Field Operations design team,  kicked off introductions, followed by key partners like Lisa Hodges-Hiken from the Westport Community Economic Development Corporation, Brad Rogers from South Baltimore Gateway Partnership, Ryan Humphrey from Stonewall Development, Jazmin Kimble from Baltimore City Department of Planning, and Kristina Bigby from Assedo Consulting, who spoke about the importance of outreach and engagement. The project team presented the 30% design plans, shaped by the community’s ideas from earlier meetings, and invited everyone to share new thoughts on features like safety, accessibility, and amenities.

As we work toward the 60% design milestone, we’ll continue integrating the community’s input to ensure the final park reflects the community’s vision. Check back in for the latest updates and ways to stay involved with the project team.
